Creating and Uploading a New Database |
|
| |
To make a new database and upload it to the system:
- Start the System Administrator.
- Click File -> New or the icon.
- Create your new database.
- Be sure the hardware configuration in your database matches the configuration in the target DSX telephone system. The System Administrator will manage any conflicts, but it is simpler if the configurations match.
- Click System -> Connect or the icon to connect to the DSX system.
- Click System -> Send or the icon to send the database to the system.
- This may take several minutes (over USB or Ethernet).
- Click System -> Disconnect or the icon to end your session.
- Click File -> Save or the icon to optionally save the database you just uploaded.

To use the System Administrator to program a system on-line:
- Start the System Administrator.
- Do not open a database you previously saved or create a new database.
- If you do, the new or saved database will overwrite the system data once you connect.
- Click System -> Connect or the icon to connect to the DSX system.
- Wait a few seconds for essential system data to download to your PC.
- Do one of the following:
- Click System -> Retrieve to download the entire site database to your PC, then begin programming.
Or
- Begin programming immediately
- Click System -> Send or the icon to send your changes to the system.
- You can send your changes individually as you make them or in a group.
- Before you end your programming session, it is strongly recommended that you download the entire site database and save it to a file on your PC hard drive. See Archiving a Database for more.
