Important Notes When Installing Version 3 |
|
 |
|
|
|
|
| |
A brand new DSX-80/160 CPU or DSX-40 cabinet will likely have factory-installed Version 2 software.
To update your new system to Version 3:
- Install and power-up the system normally, following the applicable Installation Instructions.
- Download Version 3 System Software and System Administrator.
- Following these instructions, update the system to Version 3.
- When the update is complete, initialize the system.
- This will insure that the Version 3 numbering plan is enabled (e.g., extensions start at 301).
- If you don't initialize, the system will run Version 3 software using the Version 2 numbering plan (extensions start at 300).
A Version 3 database is not backward compatible with any prior version.
To update an existing system, see Upgrading Existing Version 2 Installations below. |

Upgrading Existing Version 2 Installations |
|
| |
Version 3 system software is compatible with an existing Version 2 database. When upgrading from Version 2 to Version 3, extension and group numbers will not change. For example, extension 300 in Version 2 will still be extension 300 after the upgrade.
To update your existing Version 2 system to Version 3:
- Using the Version 2 System Administrator, download the entire database and store the file in a safe place.
- Download Version 3 System Software and System Administrator.
- You can install the Version 2 and Version 3 System Administrator on the same PC. They will not interfere.
- Do not load the Version 2 database into the Version 3 System Administrator. If you do, options unique to Version 2 (such as Answer Tables) will be lost.
- Following these instructions, update the system to Version 3 but do not initialize the system when the update completes.
- Here's what you should expect when the system restarts:
- A extension, Ring Group, and UCD Group extension numbers have not changed.
- Answer Table programming is remapped to the new Line Schedules.
- IntraMail incoming and outgoing messages are retained.
A Version 3 database is not backward compatible with any prior version. If you want to revert to Version 2, you can only use the database you saved in step 1 above. |

Upgrading Your IntraMail or IntraMail Pro Voice Prompts |
|
| |
Version 3 IntraMail features will not be available until you upgrade the voice prompts on your IntraMail CompactFlash. To upgrade the prompts:
- Using the latest Version 3 System Administrator available, connect to the system.
- Click Online: IntraMail: Update.
- Select the prompt file that you want to use for the update (normally English_2.1.imp).
- Click Open.
- The prompt file will immediately start uploading to the compact flash
- When the update completes, click Finish.
- Reset the system.
Each prompt file takes about 10 minutes to upload and uses about 5MB of space on the IntraMail CompactFlash. |
