DSX System Administrator Version 3.37 Download
Read These Notes Prior to Updating

Version 3 System Administrator is only compatible with version 3 system software.

  • You can, however, import a version 2 database into the version 3 System Administrator.
  • Installing version 3 System Administrator will not affect any prior version 2 installations. It will install as a separate application.
  • If you have any prior version 3 System Administrator installed, use Control Panel -> Programs and Features (Add or Remove Programs) to uninstall it prior to installing this new version.
  • Review the minimum PC Requirements:
    • Operating System: 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows XP Pro, Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 8.1.
    • Video resolution: 1024x768 or higher
    • Processor speed: 1 GHz or higher
    • RAM: 256 MBytes or greater

Version 3 IntraMail features will not be available until you upgrade the voice prompts on your IntraMail CompactFlash. To upgrade the prompts:

  1. Using the latest Version 3 System Administrator available, connect to the system.
  2. Click Online: IntraMail: Update.
  3. Select the prompt file that you want to use for the update (normally English_2.1.imp).
  4. Click Open.
    • The prompt file will immediately start uploading to the compact flash
  5. When the update completes, click Finish.

Each prompt file takes about 10 minutes to upload and uses about 5MB of space on the IntraMail CompactFlash.

What's New in DSX System Administrator Version 3.37
  • System: Options: Setup: Display (1511) Units correctly selects and displays Fahrenheit or Celsius. In System Administrator 3.33, the select list would always show Fahrenheit as selected (regardless of the selection).
  • The System Administrator installation file is for all 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Windows 8.1, Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP. Separate 32-bit and 64-bit installers are no longer required.
  • The System Administrator installer does not install the drivers for USB connectivity. There are separate 32-bit and 64-bit USB Driver installers if you require USB connections.
    • Note that the 64-bit USB Driver does not work with 64-bit Windows 8.1. USB connectivity with DSX is not available for that version of Windows.
    • If you have a previous System Administrator version installed, you should not need to install the separate USB driver.
  • Performance with the latest versions of Windows is improved.
  • DSX System Administrator 3.37 adds the Folder button to the System Directory page. This new button allows the System Directory to be stored on any accessible local, network, or cloud drive folder. A typical application for this button would be to create a centralized System Directory to which all DSX technicians have access. For example (using Windows 7):
    1. Locate the existing System Directory file file in the Documents/NEC/DSX System Administrator 3 folder.
    2. Copy or move the file to the new location.
    3. Click Folder and browse to the new location, then click Select.
    4. The Selection drop-down will now show the System Directory entries from the new location.
      - The path to the new System Directory is remembered in the System Administrator preferences.
      - Any technician wanting to share the central System Directory can just click Folder and browse to the shared location (if available to them).
  • The Address Book contents are streamlined and are updated only when entries are added, deleted, or modified. Prior to version 3.37, the Address Book contained additional data that was frequently updated and could cause problems with cloud drives such as Dropbox.
