Built-In Automated Attendant
  Application Summary

The Built-In Automated Attendant gives the system call answering and routing capabilities when IntraMail is not installed. It can use any of the first eight Call Routing Mailboxes (001-008) for call handling, and each of these eight Routing Mailboxes can have a 30 second Instruction Menu message (Attendant Greeting). The Routing Mailboxes must be Call Routing Mailboxes, and all other Routing Mailbox types are ignored. Additionally, the Built-In Automated Attendant provides two voice mail ports, allowing it to handle two calls simultaneously. It does not provide voice mail.

Just like the full featured IntraMail Automated Attendant, the Built-In Automated Attendant can answer outside calls on each line according to the time of the day and day of the week that the call is ringing. After answering, the Built-In Automated Attendant plays an Instruction Menu message (greeting) to the caller and provides them with dialing options.

  1. Enable the Built-In Automated Attendant.

  1. In 4101-01: Voice Mail Type, enter 1.
  2. Go to Basic IntraMail Setup to set up the Built-In Automated Attendant to answer your outside calls.
  3. Go to Default IntraMail Answering for details on how the Built-In Automated Attendant answers calls.
  4. By default, all calls answered by the Built-In Automated Attendant are handled by Answer Table 1.
  5. See these pages from the DSX Software Manual for more.
  2. Record the Attendant Greeting.

  1. At extension 300, dial #AG (#24).
  2. Enter the mailbox number for the Attendant Greeting (801-808).
  3. Push Listen, Record, Erase, or Exit.
